- MagnaCut blade — CPM MagnaCut is a powder metallurgy stainless steel developed by metallurgist Larrin Thomas in partnership with Crucible Industries. It achieves an unprecedented combination of edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance that no conventional multi-tool steel can match. Hardened to 60-63 HRC on the ARC — meaningfully higher than the 55-59 HRC of 420HC steel — it holds a working edge through weeks of use that would require frequent sharpening on a standard multi-tool blade. PVD-coated for additional corrosion protection. Plain edge only; no serrations.
- FREE Technology — magnetic one-hand deployment — Leatherman's magnetic architecture allows every implement, including the pliers, to open and lock with one hand. A push or pull against the magnetic retention snaps each tool open, locks it confidently in place, and closes it with a satisfying click. No fingernails needed. No two-hand deployment. Every tool is fully outside-accessible without opening the handles first.
- All 20 tools outside-accessible — unlike tools where internal implements require the plier handles to be splayed open first, every tool on the ARC deploys from the closed position. This includes the spring-action scissors, saw, files, and both bit drivers.
- Spring-action scissors — the scissors open automatically after each cut via an internal spring, eliminating the effort of repeatedly re-opening them during use. A meaningful practical upgrade over non-spring scissors for tape, packaging, and first aid tasks.
- Large and small bit drivers with included bits — both a large and small bit driver are included, accepting 1/4" hex bits. Phillips #1-2 and 3/16" screwdriver bits ship with the tool.
- Diamond-coated file and edge file — two distinct filing implements: a diamond-coated file for precision sharpening and hard surface work, and a standard edge file for general smoothing and shaping. The diamond file maintains the MagnaCut blade in the field.
- Premium replaceable wire cutters — both standard and hard-wire cutter inserts are replaceable, allowing cutter edges to be swapped when dulled rather than returning the whole tool for service.
- Impact surface — a hardened striking surface for driving, hammering, and impact work where the plier head is not appropriate.
- Pry tool — a dedicated pry implement keeps prying forces away from the blade tip, which is the correct use for a premium steel blade — it should cut, not lever.
- PVD coating throughout — Physical Vapor Deposition coating on both the frame and blade provides a hard, wear-resistant surface finish with strong corrosion resistance and a clean visual finish.
